Dalkeith Country Park’s in Midlothian which is about 30 minutes from the Edinburgh city centre by car.

Travelling by car?

You can easily get to Dalkeith Country Park from the Edinburgh city bypass. Take the exit for Dalkeith from the Sheriffhall Roundabout on to Old Dalkeith Road then turn left shortly after this into King’s Gate. You’ll drive through a long stretch of woodland before you get to the park then you just have to follow the signs.

Travelling by bus?

If you’re coming from Edinburgh city centre, you can take Lothian Buses 3, 33, 49 from Edinburgh to Dalkeith – the buses are frequent and fast. Jump off at South Street and walk 5 minutes up the High Street to the Park. More info such as timetables and tickets prices are available from Lothian Buses.

Travelling by train?

You can use the new Borders’ Railway to get to Dalkeith Country Park. There are regular trains from the Borders and Edinburgh City Centre to Dalkeith’s Eskbank Station on Westfield Park. You can then walk from there (25 minutes) or get on the number 40 Lothian Bus from outside the Tesco opposite the station.
